During a routine family medicine appointment, you can expect the following:

Urgent Care

Medical emergencies often happen when you least expect them. We are here for you.

What is urgent care?

Urgent care at Garcia Family Medicine includes immediate, comprehensive medical care for non-life-threatening medical emergencies. This means our patients can avoid going to the emergency room for many medical conditions such as: asthma exacerbation, strep throat, mono, influenza, ear infections, urinary tract infections, wounds, burns, fractures, high or long-lasting fevers, extreme fatigue, excessive nausea or vomiting, and abdominal or other pain. We take these appointments same day by call-in appointments, or by simply walking in.

What happens during a visit?

During an urgent care appointment, you can expect the following:

  • Testing of your vital signs including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, height, weight, and body mass index

  • Personal and familial medical history and personal lifestyle review

  • Physical examination of the ears, eyes, and throat as well as reflexes and breathing; other areas examined as needed

  • May recommend diagnostic testing like urine tests or microscopic examinations of body fluids (or skin scrapings) free of charge. In some cases extensive testing may be required; treatments / management discussed as needed

What is chronic care?

Chronic care is the medical evaluation and management of certain diseases you might have to manage long-term or for a lifetime. Some of these conditions include: hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, asthma, allergies, arthritis, osteoporosis, and mental disorders. We offer chronic care as part of our comprehensive family medicine services. This type of care is included in a standard monthly membership.

What is medical marijuana?

Medical marijuana is marijuana use that’s been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat certain medical conditions.
