Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of a Garcia Family Medicine membership?

Two words...availability and affordability. Dr. Tess is there when you need her, and at an affordable price.

You get unlimited office visits at no additional charge—and they'll be as long as you need. Typically, you will be able to book a same-day or next-day appointment, sometimes directly through our website. You will have access to Dr. Tess’s cell phone number, so you will be able to call or text her with any medical questions as needed. Simple diagnostics (e.g. strep tests) and other tests may be performed in office for a small additional charge (or no charge at all). If you have a major issue, Dr. Tess and her team will coordinate any specialist referrals or hospital care. Being a member of Garcia Family Medicine is like having a medical provider in the family. Your provider will always be in your corner, working to keep you as healthy as possible. Healthcare as it should be.

Does the subscription cost model really save money?

You bet! Let's go over some common scenarios where a subscription based membership can save you money:

1. You're taking multiple medications: If you're taking multiple medications and paying with insurance for all of them, your co-pays are probably stacking up. Garcia Family Medicine can dispense common medications directly from our office. Convenient and purchased at wholesale prices, allowing savings to be passed on to you.

2. You have a minor injury: If you need minor, but urgent care, such as stitches, you have your provider’s personal phone number so you can have 24/7 access to urgent care at little to no cost with your monthly membership.

3. You're paying more than $300 for insurance: If you are on an insurance plan named after a precious metal, you shouldn’t be. As a Garcia Family Medicine member, the majority of your healthcare will be taken care of by your provider. All standard care, wound treatment, testing, preventative screens, and physicals will either be included in your membership or provided at a fair price. If we are not equipped to deal with a medical issue, that means it is serious, and the hospital is required.

Do I still need insurance as a direct primary care patient?

Yes, you will still need insurance for hospitalization, major illness, or major accident. However, you can reduce your insurance coverage because your primary care is covered by your membership to Garcia Family Medicine. You should consider a “high deductible” catastrophic plan.

Does Garcia Family Medicine offer healthcare packages to small businesses?

We absolutely do. We know it is tough being a small business owner that isn’t able to offer the staff an affordable healthcare plan. Please contact us to set up a meeting about our package for small businesses - The Freedom Plan.

Does Garcia Family Medicine accept patients with Medicare?

Yes! You'll sign a one-time waiver declaring that neither you nor your doctor will directly bill Medicare for our services.

What sets Garcia Family Medicine apart from other practices?

The restrictions of a traditional healthcare setting do not exist at Garcia Family Medicine. Through our direct primary care model, we are able to spend our time where it really counts - with our patients. On top of compassionate care, we also offer wholesale labs, deeply discounted prescription prices, and other cost savings along the way. We promise accessibility, convenience, and affordability across the board.

Will I benefit from a direct primary care membership if I don’t need frequent medical care?

We offer a fully customizable healthcare system. Over time we’ll build a comprehensive, intimate knowledge of your health. Once we’ve done that, we can build a subscription plan tailored to your specific needs.

Will I have to pay the startup fee for each membership if I want several?

If you feel you will need several of our services, please come in for a consultation so that we may provide a custom plan designed specifically for your needs - price and all.

Is my membership to Garcia Family Medicine tax deductible?

Unfortunately, no, your membership is not tax deductible. Your retainer is not yet defined as a medical expense in most states and therefore is not tax deductible. Please talk to your tax consultant to clarify the tax consequences in your particular circumstances.
